Car: Accord Euro R semi setup for track.
Tyre size: 225/40 R18
Track tested on: Ruapuna.
I've run Bridgestone RE003's, S007a's and now Dunlop 050+'s about 15,000km (half worn).
Worst tyre in every catagory incl tyre life RE003 (it's cheap so not suprised really), everything but tyre life is merely ok with tyre life being poor.
Best tyre on track was the S007a's, great sidewall stiffness and lateral grip. On road they are a smidge noisy and lack straight line accl and braking grip in cold or damp conditions.
Best overall tyre is the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 050+. Beats the RE003 easy in everything, runs the S007a's pretty close in lateral grip in the dry, better in the wet period, great acceleration and braking grip, decent tyre life and fairly quiet. I've discovered that for track it's better to get another set of wheels and run semi slicks anyway (Dunlop Z3, Hankook RS4 the new awesome looking Falken RT660 available soon etc etc)
So conclusion my favourite daily driver tyre for the money is now the 050+. Can't go wrong, I'm not surprised they are factory fitment on some Lexus cars.
