I've needed a tyre for Central Otago roads on my RAV4 AWD. 80% motorways and 20% slippery gravel dirt roads, a few days of snow a year and maybe a ski field. The previous highway tyre was terrifying if not dangerous. So I researched everything. It's quite confusing the choices and the conflicting recommendations from several tyre shops. I had a puncture last week and then made the decision after much research. This is the first time I've ever bought tyres online. Hyper Drive were excellent on price, quick delivery and a very good fitment centre. I got to test the Falken WIldpeak AT Trails on a very rainy day on a windy 140 km trip. They are fantastic. Zero slippage nor aquaplaning. Only a slight increase of roughness on road compared to the highway tyres I replaced. They handle corners surprisingly well. On the dirt road they are also fantastic; sure-footed, no sliding, keep a straight line. It's a great feeling. Overall they feel competent like an all terrain tyre with the manners of a regular tyre; like they were made for the RAV4. Can't wait to try these in the snow.
